The following things should be considered when determining which, if any, breast lift procedure is right for you.
– Would you like your breasts to be larger as well as lifted. In this scenario a combination Breast Lift and a Breast Implant procedure should be considered.
– If, on the other hand, you would like the breasts to be smaller as well as lifted, some type of formal Breast Lift, most often it’s the commonly performed “Lollipop” or “Vertical Lift” that should be considered. In this procedure an incision is made around the areola, another higher placed circle as well as a lazy-S down the front of the breast to the inframammary fold. This type of procedure allows skin removal, breast tissue removal and lifting of the breast.
– In cases where the size, of the breast, is to remain relatively unchanged, localized lifts using Crescent Lifts, Doughnut Lifts or internal lifting of the inframammary folds should be considered. Crescent Lifts utilize an incision along the upper areola that’s combined with a half-moon shaped skin excision above. This is typically 1-3 cm’s. When the skin incision, is closed, the areolar complex appears lifted. This is appropriate when the areolar complex needs to be lifted 1 to 1 1/2 inches. When the areolar complex needs to be lifted to a greater extent, without changing breast size, a doughnut type lift should be considered. In this procedure, a doughnut or egg-shaped incision is created around the areola and mid-breast region with more skin removal above the nipple line, than below. As the incision is closed, using a purse-string type closure, the breast is lifted. In the case when the breast has dropped along the chest, the inframammary fold can be raised, lifting the entire breast back up along the chest.
